From the very beginning, the Magnus dining table was a stand out piece in the IconByDesign collection.
The table embodied everything the founders believed in: timeless design, honest materials, and enduring quality. There was something quietly compelling about it - the way soft curves balanced strong lines, the simplicity of the silhouette, the warmth of the timber. A nod to mid-century Scandinavian design, yet with a timelessness that felt right at home in any era.
The founders were drawn to the honesty of the table. Nothing veneered, nothing overly processed. Just solid wood, responsibly sourced, and finished to highlight, not hide, its natural character.
So much so that David didn’t just choose it for the flagship collection, he chose it for his own home.

Ten years later, that same table still stands proudly in his dining room. IconByDesign’s very first piece and one that’s never been replaced. Not because it’s nostalgic (although it is, through the many family conversations, meals, birthdays, and special occasions - the poetic rituals of daily life), but because it continues to hold its own: functionally, aesthetically, and emotionally.
The Magnus Collection Today
While the aesthetic of the Magnus table remains true to its origins, its 10th year brought a few subtle improvements, shaped by our ongoing commitment to thoughtful design and customer feedback.
We’ve reinforced the leg design with a wider joint profile and a notched apron, enhancing what was already a solid and stable structure. The tabletop now features a 2H-rated protective coating, offering greater resistance to scratches and moisture than typical finishes. We also updated the lacquer to a matte, soft-sheen finish, keeping the natural warmth of the timber front and centre, with a more understated, contemporary feel.
The accompanying Magnus dining chairs have also evolved. All the core fabric options come with a performance treatment readily applied for stain resistance, and our leather options are thicker, softer, and more refined, crafted from premium top-grain South American hides. Our Magnus Dining Chairs are now load tested to support up to 150kg of static weight for one hour without any damage.
The Magnus range has expanded to include extendable dining tables, round, oval and square dining tables, benches, as well as tables for the living room such as the rectangular coffee table, oval coffee table, and round side table.
The result is a collection that stays true to its design roots while becoming even more resilient, comfortable, and considered. Built to be lived with, and built to last.
