Meet Louise
We recently collaborated with interior stylist Louise Roche (@villastyling) for our first-ever in-store event. It was a resounding success and many of you loved the styling knowledge that Louise imparted. Find out how she creates interiors that are memorable, have a great vibe and, most importantly, function well.
What do you love about IconByDesign? What makes the furniture a great addition to a space?Â
I love that IconByDesign is a family-owned business that uses solid wood and supports craftsmen. Solid wood furniture speaks for itself; it’s clean and timeless and finds itself at home in any space.
How would you describe your design aesthetic?
I would describe my style as quiet luxury. I love to create interiors that are memorable, have a great vibe and, most importantly, function well for living and creating our best memories.
What attracted you to the Otto Table, Otto Bench and Nestor Fabric Dining Chairs from IconByDesign and how does it complement your styling projects?
I loved the clean lines of the Otto table and bench; they exude simple elegance that I can style to suit any season. The Nestor chairs were a favourite because of their stunning design and comfort. They are the perfect addition to my space.
As an editorial photographer, how do you approach capturing the essence of a space through your lens? What role does furniture play in making a space stand out in your shoots?
Looking for the best angles that capture the essence is a must to bring out the depth and strength of the furniture. When styling a shoot, I use decor items and layers that complement these elegant furniture pieces to make each shot stand out.

Which room in your home was your favourite to create?
It’d have to be the dining room and living room. It’s where we spend so much time together, whether that’s sitting down to dinner, or hanging out on the sofa. I love the blend of practical design with cosy touches, making it a space where we can gather, chat, and spend time together.
How would you describe your design aesthetic?
I’d say my design aesthetic is a mix of relaxed, coastal vibes with a bit of Scandinavian simplicity and some retro elements thrown in. I love spaces that feel light, airy, and inviting – nothing too over-the-top. Clean lines, natural textures, and a neutral palette are my go-to, with pops of colour. It’s all about creating a space that feels calm and timeless, but still lived in too.
How do you incorporate sustainable and Scandinavian-inspired design choices into your home and DIY projects? How does the quality and design influence your choices?Â
I’m a big fan of timeless, well-made pieces that you can love for years – which is why I gravitate toward Scandinavian-inspired designs. I love that IconByDesign focuses on sustainability and quality, with kids around, you need things built to last!
Finally, how does coastal living inspire your home design choices, and how do timeless, sustainable IconByDesign pieces fit into this?
Coastal living is all about easy going vibes for me – light, breezy spaces that make you feel like you’re on holiday, even when you're just at home. We love just spending time together outdoors whether that’s at the beach, or in our backyard at home. IconByDesign’s pieces are perfect for that. They’re beautifully made, with that clean, Scandinavian aesthetic that blends seamlessly into a coastal-inspired space.
