Meet Elodie
Interior stylist Elodie Rose shares her passion for creating warm, inviting spaces that are all about blending personal style with functionality. From renovating her Sunshine Coast home to balancing motherhood and a creative career, Elodie offers insights into her design philosophy and favourite pieces from IconByDesign.
As an interior stylist, what do you love about IconByDesign? What makes the furniture a great addition to your home?
I love the quality of IconByDesign products – you can tell they’re made to last, which is so important to us. I also love the Scandi-inspired aesthetic of the range. The clean lines, warm wood tones, and timeless designs make these pieces easy to style in any home.
How do you curate a space that inspires you and brings you peace? What tips would you give to those looking to do the same?
Stay true to what you love. It’s great to be inspired by trends, but always choose pieces that make you feel happy and content. That’s what creates a home with personality and warmth. In my opinion, a home should be a reflection of who you are and a place where you feel at peace.
How do you use bright and bold colours to elevate a room and add interest to your home?
I’m a neutrals lover at heart, but I do enjoy experimenting with trending bold colours like chocolate brown, burgundy, and deep reds. I like to introduce colour through décor – think textiles, linens, vases, and coffee table books. That way, if I ever want a change, it’s an easy update without a big commitment or cost.
As an interior stylist, what are your two favourite pieces from IconByDesign and why?
I absolutely love the Bruno Upholstered Bed, which I’ve styled in our master bedroom. It’s the perfect blend of modern design with a nod to mid-century Scandi style. The combination of oak wood and the soft upholstered bedhead feels both timeless and cosy. I also love the rugs; they feel so luxe. I have the Layla Wool Rug in our master bedroom, and it’s incredibly soft underfoot.

Can you tell us a bit about how you’ve rediscovered yourself outside of motherhood through your work?
I love this question! Yes, I’ve rediscovered myself through my interior styling work and, more recently, by starting my own small design business after having my second son. Balancing motherhood and work is a constant juggle, and I often feel like I don’t quite get it right – but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Having a creative outlet is so important for me. Interior styling and design give me purpose, alongside the incredible role of being a mother.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of redesigning your home on the Sunshine Coast?
It’s been a labour of love. We’ve renovated our home in stages as our budget allowed, which means it’s taken a long time. There are pros and cons to this; we’ve been able to save and avoid going into debt, but, at the same time, my style has evolved, so the kitchen I chose eight years ago might not be the one I’d have picked today! That said, taking our time has been rewarding, and we’ve done much of the renovation work ourselves (while bringing in specialised trades, where needed), which makes it even more meaningful.
How does living on the Sunshine Coast inspire your design choices?
I’m constantly inspired by the incredibly talented local interior designers and builders – there are some amazing homes here that give me so much inspiration. Living in a warm climate has definitely influenced my style. I gravitate towards open-plan layouts, light and airy spaces, and a relaxed coastal aesthetic that suits indoor/outdoor living.
What are the biggest challenges when organising a space, especially for families?
Any given space needs to be functional for everyone. When I organise a home, my goal is always to create a system that works for the entire family – not just something that looks neat and aesthetically pleasing. If it’s not practical, it won’t last. I always check in with my clients after a month or six weeks to see how the space is working for them and refine anything that needs tweaking.
What is your design philosophy when it comes to incorporating your personal style into your space?
For me, it’s all about creating a space that feels like home – somewhere warm, inviting, and reflective of who we are. I believe in investing in timeless, quality pieces that will last, then layering in personality through textures, decor, and those little details that make a space feel lived-in and loved. I always say, don’t be afraid to mix old with new, high-end with budget-friendly and, most importantly, pieces that genuinely bring you joy. That’s what makes a home feel unique and authentic.
You’re from the United Kingdom; how has your home style changed since moving to Australia, if at all?
It has changed so much! Some of that is just me growing up and refining my style, but living in Australia has definitely influenced my aesthetic. I still love elements of traditional English interiors, but I now lean towards a style that suits a warmer climate. I love spaces that are open, light, and airy, with a focus on indoor/outdoor living. Becoming a mother has also shaped my approach; I now prioritise family-friendly, functional spaces that feel beautiful.
