Interior Design Tips To Liven Your Living Space

Now that 2016 is well and truly behind us, make 2017 the year in which you revive your home’s interior design.

Here, then, are 4 interior design tips courtesy of the Icon By Design team that will keep you ahead of the game when it comes to the hot interior trends for 2017:

1. Go For Colour

Our Sixties Armchair comes in a variety of different colours

Now, you might say ‘colour’ is not really a trend – but it is. That’s because we’re still in the throes of the all-white craze, but colour is coming back in the same way that it dominated in the 60s through to the 80s.

Perfect examples of on-trend colours are terracotta or the even bolder orange, because while the ethos of white was minimalism and calm, the combination of dusky and bold colour exudes relaxation through informality.

2. Get Back to Nature

If you’re hooked on the idea of playing with colour, then seagrass green could be perfect for you – and it leads beautifully into the next trend for 2017 – nature.

The ‘back to nature’ theme has been strong for some time but it’s only getting stronger. We’re talking a distinctly Scandi influence here, with the appearance of natural light, simple designs and the totally natural look, like strong and distinct wood grain finishes.

3. Embrace Romance

And not just any old romanticism – an ultra-contemporary form of romanticism is very much on the way in for 2017.

It’s all about soft, kind and friendly rather than over the top, including interesting textures, rustic designs and deep tones for intimate moments.

4. Escape From Technology

As we get deeper and deeper into the 21st century, technology, globalism and connectedness are becoming more and more a part of our everyday lives. So as we head into 2017, a clear emerging interior design trend is for there to be somewhere in our home we can escape to – a nook or a hideaway, or just a quiet place to read a book.

So while smartphones and tablets may be in, that doesn’t mean the humble yet sleek Jonas bookshelf is out!
